Move-in Day

It's move-in day for our band student. I'll let you know how it goes later today. He'll meet his roommate this morning since he's local. I thought it would be nice to meet without all the excitement of move-in day.

Good-luck. I am looking forward to hearing about your move-in thoughts.

S was the only one moving into Memorial this morning. It will be much different on Saturday. He met his roommate this morning. My prediction is that they will do fine.

We were pleasantly surprised with the size of the closet. It’s bigger than the one we saw in Hank on the tour. S’s room has corner closets on either side of the door. S has plenty of space to hang his clothes. I went out this afternoon and purchased hanging closet shelves out of fabric so that he has more space for the stuff he does not hang. We also purchased a 5 shelf wire bookcase to put next to his bed. Based on the size of the room, there realize is no option but to loft the bed. He put his desk and one dresser outside the bed and the other dresser under the bed. We’ll be adding a bean bag chair under the bed.

I do recommend that you see the room before you purchase much. We had to be very selective on the bookcase in order for it to fit. Bring a tape measure. We ended up using a ruler to measure things. Inches will count.

Other than that, we will be going back this evening after band camp to finish the room. The DH and I can enjoy Nashville until Saturday morning.

Let me know if you have any questions.

You have been incredibly thoughtful in your posting tonight for all of us who are still making the journey to Nashville. Thank you for taking the time. I just went to the car and put a tape measure into it.

Happy to hear all went well. We just have to go through my son’s clothes today and then pack the car. I am adding the tape measure. I didnt think of that. We will be leaving sometime tomorrow. Thanks for your update!

We packed S2 a small tool kit with basic tools, including a tape measure, 4 in 1 screwdriver, pliers, hammer, etc. May never use it but nice to have if he does.

We used the 4x1 tool several times yesterday for little jobs.

I had forgotten but you are correct that a screw driver is very helpful to have on move-in day–we used it and loaned it out to several other people that also needed it.

We also brought a mallet, which many people used in lofting and unlofting the beds.
