I was just wondering how the logistics of move in day work.

I doubt you just drive around to where your dorm building is, park, and unload your stuff... since I don't think enough cars would be able to fit in the small roads around the dorms.

Do you park with you stuff in one of the big parking garage things, check-in and then put your stuff in your room?

Are there less people checking in if you get there really early?

Actually that’s about how it happens. All the roads on campus that are normally closed to vehicle traffic are open so that you can park right in front of the dorm and off-load everything. You can check-in to your dorm in one of the common areas of the building. I actually would recommend checking in a little later. Everyone tries to come right at 8am, and it’s really packed until about 1030 or 11, from what I remember.

You’ll have to check in to receive your ID card, course catalog, and other materials at the WoodPec or another place, but you can do that after you check into your dorm. It’s actually really simple that first day of freshmen move-in. You’ll spend most of the day arranging your room and meeting the people on your hall, though there are places to go ask questions about academics, campus life, etc. if you have questions. You’ll receive more information later in the summer and once you get to campus.
