What is the process for move-in day? Like what is the basic routine and all of that jazz?

You take your stuff from point A, and relocate it to point B.

oh geez, thanks

That’s pretty much it. Point A is your car, and Point B is your new room.

How much do people usually bring? I was thinking about it the other day… gee I’d need to bring a lot of suitcases.

I’d say 2 cases of clothes, a bass guitar (and amp), bedding (which is probably another case), and then another one or two cases of random crap like bathroom and tech stuff.

is this a serious question? u move the stuff u need to live with into ur room???

i don’t want threads to other cc forums. I did not ask for a list of stuff to bring. My question was what is the basic routine of things on move in day

Park in the designated move-in parking area. Meet the RA of your floor/section, get your key & ID, get a giant bin, put your belongings in the giant bin, make your way to the elevator, pick a side or say hi to your roommate and take the remaining side. Go out with your parents for any needed extras, attend any scheduled meetings the school has planned, eat with your parents (or whoever brought you). Say bye, go organize your room.

At least thats how it was at my school.

When I moved in I had 2 large blue storage containers, and an under the bed one with minimal stuff outside of the bins. It made moving in easier. Although several people did show up with a U-haul.

I just brought my suitcases/duffel bags of clothes, and boxes of other stuff I’d need. Just like packing up and moving anywhere else…except you’re not taking EVERYTHING and there are hundreds or thousands of other kids doing the same thing as you in the same general area.

thanks guys, finally some decent answers lol

Pretty much the same for my school. Although finding a spot to park and unload your stuff was pretty difficult considering the massive influx of traffic. Also, the key pick-up area for the dorms at my school were located outside.

You may or may not have an elevator…

Step 1: Chill until Fall 2009
Step 2: You will get instructions sometime in the summer what the specific procedures, date and time for you to move in
Step 3: Rally the parents
Step 4: Get there before your roommate(s) for the best side of the room
Step 5 : Move in. Get rid of parents
Step 6: Open for business
