Move-In Day

What's up guys,
I finally got my dorm assignment (hopkins), and I'd like some veterans of move in day to give me some words of wisdom. Any typical mistakes that you've seen yourself/others make?

Not sure how many mistakes could be made, just be prepared to wait a while. Things got a little chaotic last year, but it also gives you a chance to meet a bunch of people that are moving in with you. Also, if at all possible, stairs are usually a better idea for move-in day, except for the really heavy things. Elevator lines get ridiculous.

As far as after the parents are gone, I would suggest going out your first night. Everyone is so excited to be on campus and meeting people is just too easy. If you know anyone going to school, try to go out with them, or else try to find someone from your floor to accompany you. If you are 19, the bars are great. Otherwise, there are some cool places to go if you aren't... the Hookah Bar on Green St., Cafe Paradiso, various house parties that you could find. Also, if you are into music, http://www.openingbands.com is a great resource and there are usually 4 or 5 shows listed per night. Have fun!

You can pick up text books on the first day, right? If so I plan on using my first night to start reading my chem book. Too shy to do anything social, but at least I'll get a head start on schoolwork, right? :)

Yes, you can purchase your books whenever you like, usually TIS has the best prices out of the three main book stores.

i got this email about intersections.. cuz im assigned to PAR so im automatically in?
