Move In Questions? Ask away!

Hey everyone,

I remember this time last year when I was super excited about moving into my dorm at UNC. I know my parents weren't quite as enthusiastic about it, but we all had questions about moving in and such. Fortunately, I had a good friend here who could answer most of my questions. Anyway, I'm just throwing myself out here as a resource for anyone who may have questions. Just ask and I'll do my best to answer.

Thanks! I do have a question…

How long are parents supposed to stay if they drop us off? Are parents allowed to stay for a while and help us arrange things in our dorm? I heard parents were supposed to leave somewhat quickly, so I just don’t know what to expect…

packerfan,
Thanks again for answering my question about move-in on a different thread. My son got moved into Connor just fine today! Tomorrow, we start CTOPS.

Maziana,

Parents can stay as long as tlhey want. We don’t kick parents out of the dorm or anything like that. The only restriction is that you get a 40 minute block for parking in a really convenient area. After that, you have to park in lots that may be a good walk to your dorm. But parents can definitely stay and help arrange your room.

GrizzMom,

I’m glad everything went well. I hope your son enjoys being in Connor and has a great year!

Will the dorms provide dollies? As well, it is supposed to rain all morning and afternoon tomorrow when I’m supposed to move in, so does anything change? Thanks!

Dorms won’t provide dollies. But a lot of times other people moving in are willing to allow people to borrow their dollies. As far as the rain goes, I don’t think anything is going to change in regards to moving in.
