Moving my son into Capstone, and would like to do it when we get into town on the 16th instead of waiting for the 17th. Does anyone know how strict they are with suggested move in times for residents of each floor?

What time is he scheduled and when are you coming? I don’t think very strict, especially if you get there after regularly scheduled times for that dorm (2 or 4pm). In dorms with lots of floors, staggering times means the elevators are almost express to those floors so it slows things down when you start adding stops on lower floors. But there are fewer moving in on Friday and freshman girls who rush are already in, so may not be too congested.

The guidelines state that if you can’t pick up your key /move-in during the ‘suggested times’ then they ask that you wait until after 2 PM so it sounds like you could move in Friday anytime after 2 PM if you can’t get there during your ‘suggested time’. We’re getting there Friday late afternoon-after 2 so our plan is to get most of the stuff dropped off in the room so on Saturday we don’t have a lot of loading and trips- just show up and set everything up.

Are you talking about coming in a day early?

In the past, they’ve allowed students to move in a day early. I didn’t freshman year, but I did sophomore year and it definitely helps out. You usually have to get permission from housing, but I’d call to check it out.

^^They said anyone can move in on Friday 8am - 9pm, just abide by same move-in times by floor, limited time to unload, etc. that you would on Saturday. It was on FB last week I think.

I think the early move in day is suppose to be for oos students but maybe they are not strict about it. Our parking pass is for Friday (early move in) Although we will be there Wednesday for rush move in.

D’s unloading pass just says “not valid after Sat, Aug 17.” We’re local and have moved in a day early every time.

We should arrive from the DC area late Friday afternoon and will probably try to move on as soon as we get to campus. I’d like to leave Saturday open for picking up anything we don’t buy beforehand and also showing my wife and daughter around campus.

Let me know if you need info about nearest Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & beyond, etc. to where you are staying.

We are OoS too and according to the Facebook post, anyone can move in early. Our parking pass just states ‘not valid after Sat., Aug. 17’ as well. I would imagine they all say the same thing.

Like jm2817, we are coming in Friday late afternoon hoping to unload when it’s less busy then return during our designated time on Sat. to unpack /set up everything. That way we can have time for a Walmart run if needed and walk around the campus a bit.

We are Oos and we got two parking passes. The one that say “not valid after Sat Aug 17th” and then a second one that says Early move in with Friday Aug 16th on it. Again, they must not care too much. We did not get a parking pass for Wed when we will be moving d into the dorm.
