I see I see, but I'm gonna go home anyways...hahah

I'll be moving in on Friday, and I'll come back Tuesday.

I'll be moving in on Friday, and I'll come back Tuesday.

Every floor moves in at the same time (well the same day anyways). I have a list of times when every building is supposed to move in if anyone wants to know (insider stuff. woohoo). People move in starting from the lowest floor moving up towards the top. So the top floors move in last (Sunday). All second floor people move in the same day, so no one will get mad at you for going there, as that's their destination as well.

Allena: I hope you aren't living in Hedrick Hall with me. Haha. I'll be giving you the shifty looks if you get on/off on the second floor. :P And then talk about you once you leave. Just kidding. It was, however, annoying living on the top floor and then stopping on every floor (including 2) to get to the top. At least for fire drills, you don't have to walk up/down 7 flights of stairs.

I'll be a MIA (move-in assistant) this year. Haha. So you'll have me lugging stuff out of your car and into the elevator. Phew. It's going to be hard work.

There are some 'required' meetings welcome week (Mandatory Mondays!), but they aren't really required as no one checks. They talk about the rules and stuff, so it might be helpful to stay instead of going home right after you move in.

i dont think that's part of the move in assistant's job description. at least last year, we lugged all our own stuff. all the MIAs did were rent out carts and showed us where to go.

Some MIA actually do lug stuff out of the cars (mostly the boys though). All my guy friends had to do that last year anyways. I never had any help though, those lazy bums. For Hedrick, there are like 200+ people that are MIA (usually it's about 100 people) this year so now there is plenty of people to do that.

Hope it isn't me. Haha.

Noo I'm living in Summit.

hey me too! i'll be one of the people NOT glaring at you in the elevator. hahahah ;)

im a mia this year. how much time is expected to be commited of mias? cause i want to go out and explore the campus/westwood...

I have a question, my assigned time is 9/22 at 11AM-Noon but I wanted to change to 9/22 8-10PM. 8-10 is now full though, will it be okay if my move in pass says 11-12PM but I show up at 8PM that day? Do they even check?

It doesn't really matter what time you show up, nobody is going to check.

nobody checks the parking ticket?

the way that the split it up into load in/move in passes made it seem as if they were strictly enforced.

So can I move in like 2 days earlier if I wanted to and nobody would care? Don't we have to get like check-in stuff or something?

i believe the earliest you can move in is friday the 22nd. as long as its not before that then you should be fine. yes, you check in, but they dont check/verify your assigned move in time.

nobody answered the parking question ((at least, i don't remember reading about it)). do they enforce the parking permit? if i go earlier than the assigned schedule (( a day earlier )), can i still use the parking permit or do i have to pay on my own?

i believe you can still use that parking permit... actually, i don't really think that it matters too much that you have the parking permit at all during move-in... it's only good for telling you which parking lot you need to go to. however i could be wrong.

The format is so basic you can copy the pass into Word.

hey thanks, but I just downloaded the parking pass and it says on the bottom to only move in during your assigned time because thats when your room key will be available. So even if I try to move in early, I won't be able to get into my room.

someone tell me this isn't true...

Nope... it's a lie. You will not be turned away if you show up early (unless you show up before the first day of move-in.) You can still pick up your key. The parking pass says that your key won't be available to convince you into thinking you can only come during your assigned time. It's mainly to prevent an overflow of traffic on the streets, on the elevators and at the check-in areas.

ok good, I was hoping I was wrong, it's just what I read on the parking pass, so hopefully we can get into our rooms now.

thank. you. ckings86. :D
