Move in week

How does the university work the move in week (Aug 22-29th)? Are we assigned a specific day to move into the dorm? It seems there is stuff going on all week but it seems much of the same as NSC and fishcamp. Are we supposed to be there all week?

Thanks

Seems like everyone moved in the first Sunday the dorms opened - transportation dept tried to make it easy on everyone to open up more parking lots and streets for parking to be closer to the dorms. We still had to walk a good distance from where we were able to park and the dorm, but it was ok. Lots of people moving in that first day. You are not assigned a specific day to move in, you can move in when you want. So lots of people move in the first day the dorms open so they can participate in gig-em week activities the week before classes - it’s a good way to get to know people in your dorm and find out where your classes are and become familiar with the campus.

Do you know whether dorms are open earlier for international students? We have orientation the week before that on the 16th…

my parents started to look into hotels but I’m sure that won’t be necessary. Well, I hope not.

^ Don’t think so. They only open a little earlier for Fish Camp…

thats stupid. how do they expect us to attend an orientation for 2 days with nowhere to stay? I’m gonna email them tomorrow… hmpf.

I highly recommend moving in on the first sunday and attend gig em week activities…ie lots of free stuff and food

Is gig em week when all the clubs are set up looking for new members?

xKimxFitzx - I don’t really know why. You should try to call/contact them to see if they are willing to make some accommodations for you.

jrt336 - Not in Gig’em week. It’s call the MSC Open House. It’s on a Sunday, September 5th this year. [Howdy Ags](http://mscopenhouse.tamu.edu/Welcome.html)
