Move-in weekend and orientation question for parents

@bahiablue Did you receive the booklet that Cornell mailed to your home recently about the orientation activities that are offered on Fri & Sat? It had the whole schedule. Each school seems do be doing a reception. There are also info sessions on various topics. Plus the convocation. And, a breakfast before the convocation for alumni. Our plan is to arrive Thur afternoon & leave sometime Sat pm.

@cd2015 Ideas for dinner for the Thur night before dropoff or for that Fri night? Do we need reservations or can we be flexible? Love the idea of ice cream at the Dairy! And walking around Beebe Lake & seeing the falls. We are planning to go to Niagara Falls the Wed before. Thinking I’d like to do a winery when we return for Parents’’ Weekend.

Meeting the other parents was a highlight at my older son’s orientation at USC. I look forward to meeting some of you at Cornell! Let’s hope for beautiful weather!

@bahiablue, yes label as @oldfort says. The curb is literally packed with everyone’s boxes and luggage etc and things can get mixed up. We brought a roll of masking tape and sharpies and started labeling everything once it was out of our car. You will get a volunteer or two assigned to come over to you and they will start bringing things up, so you want to make sure it gets to the proper place. When other families saw us doing this, they all asked if they could borrow our tape and pen!

Thanks @MOMANDBOYSTWO… yes, I did receive the booklet, but there was so much in there I was still unsure of what to expect. I think I have a good idea now and I’m also planning to leave Saturday afternoon as well. Yes, we are definitely hoping for beautiful weather!

@TiggyB62 Good to know! I was picturing a madhouse, but this helps me have a better idea of what to expect (or fear lol).
