For those who have been through it already, are there any words of wisdom for making this process go smoothly at State? What can we expect with respect to:

busiest day - Fri, Sat, Sun
busiest/lightest move in times of the day
traffic heading into Raleigh/on campus

I would think Saturday would be the busiest day. We moved S1 in on a Sat. and it was pretty congested. The earlier you can get there, the better for snagging a good parking space. Entering from the Western Blvd. is prob. better than from Hillsborough.
Kids from the various fraternities and sororities are usually on hand to help carry stuff…take advantage of them.

We’re shooting for Friday, at the earliest time we can…1pm I believe it is. Fortunately, we are able to take Friday off, and it’s just an in-state drive for us. I would imagine that Sat/Sun will be a mad-house (even more than Friday).

I also am trying to encourage my D to be there early, so as to use the time to help others move-in, greet suite-mates as they arrive, explore the campus, etc. And take part in all the Welcome Week activities she can…Friday night starts with a FREE movie!

We moved our son in on Friday. It couldn’t have gone any smoother. He is living in the tri-towers so we unloaded his things (with lots of help) in the Collesium Parking Deck onto trailers. The trailer was driven to the tri-towers while we parked and by the time we walked over it was unloaded. A helper assisted with bringing everything up to the room. Great job NCSU!

slingshot, I must agree. Friday move-in was smoother and faster than I could have imagined.

We actually secured a spot in the parking lot right next to Tri-Towers, with the stipulation that we had 45 minutes to unload. It took only 30 minutes…sniff, sniff! I kind of wish it had taken longer. There was alot of help from student groups lending a hand to the Freshman. Then as planned, my D was able to help her suite-mates and friends on Saturday and Sunday as they arrived.

We arrived on campus around 10:30am Sunday, stopped at the bookstore to pick up preordered books, sent daughter to check-in at 11:15 (even though check-in was to begin at 12 or 1:00). No problem checking in early, got keys, filled out room inspection form and from there our experience was similar to Slingshot’s with tram and student helpers. We were the only car at the tram location at that time (again, we arrived earlier than the stated start time). I will add that the 5 student helpers were very careful when loading everything from our car onto the tram. Could not have been happier!

We were surprised to experience no traffic issues on Sunday. Maybe most students had already moved in by that point?? All of my daughter’s suite-mates had moved in on Friday.
