We helped our son take his things up to Marist yesterday with the threat of Hurricane Irene as a backdrop. This is our fourth and final Freshman move in experience and my wife and I both thought that it was the best by far of the other three put together. It was organized, helpful and we were in the room and set up in record time. With what seemed like an unending supply of volunteers armed with UHauls and teamwork they converged on our van, whisked my sons belongings away and coordianted their delivery to his room. Afterwards a cook-out and although a lot of events were canceled because of the weather, the Administration and student body should be commended the effectiveness and efficiency worthy of a Military Operation (I'm 20 years Navy so I speak from experience).
Leaving your child behind is a difficult thing to do and having the process simplified made it just a little bit more bearable. Congratulations Marist; job well done!

Thanks for the post
I have a D that is a junior in HS that is considering Marist
I would love to hear more updates later about how it is going and what he thinks of the school

I would be more than happy to give you my perspective and there are other parents and students for that matter who are very generous with their opinion on here. So far my son absolutely loves the school and although I realize it is very early in the process this is my fourth college freshman and none of the others was as ecstatic over their college choice as he is. He chose Marist over 11 other schools including Pitt, Binghamton, Fordham, Lafayette, American, which all have great reputations and for him it was very easy decision. Marist is clearly a college on the ascendancy and has built something that is very special in my opinion. The Administration has invested in building the reputation as well as the physical plant of the school and it is awesome to see. Ask others on here, check out Princeton Review, Kiplingers, USNWR and get every opinion you can and then visit the school; I believe you will be impressed as we were. Good luck with everything and if I can help in any way let me know.

I agree wholeheartedly! My son is beyond thrilled at Marist; I’ve hardly heard from him since move-in day! (very thankful for facebook, lol.) The move-in was fast and flawless, lunch was well-organized and really good, and by noon we were on our way home. He fell in love with the school on his first visit his junior year of hs, and so far everything is living up to his expectations.

That is fantastic, congratulations. Our son is the same way, loving everything about the school and we haven’t heard a lot from him as he is flat out busy with everything he is doing. This is our fourth child to go through the freshman experience and he seems the most happy and the least homesick out of all of them. I feel confident that the reason is the ay the school manages the processes and the overall quality of the people there. It is so comforting knowing how much he loves the school.

Thanks for the update!
