<p>I am just curious if anyone who has experienced going to a southern school such as Clemson form the north east can give me some advice. Personally i like the idea but am not sure if maybe it would be too big of a change?</p>

<p>I'm coming from Minnesota and am looking for a change. Haven't been there yet though.</p>
<p>My son just finished his first year at Clemson and we are from LI, NY. I asked him his thoughts on the subject and he told me that, yes, going to a southern school is an adjustment. He said it took a couple of months to get used to things. But one thing I know is that he is extremely happy there. And even though there are many students there from SC, there are also quite a few students there from other states. He has made friends with kids from Massachusetts, Delaware, Florida, Texas and yes even SC. I think he hangs out more with the out-of-state students, because they can all relate to each other and tend to go home less.
From a mother's prospective: it is really good to for kids to get out of their comfort zone, see a new part of the country, try new things and learn to live on their own. College is much more than just what you learn in class!

<p>Come on down. Odds are strong you won't go back to the NE. I find it truly comical, that so many perceive the South as some window to the 4th world. I've been all over the US, in fact all 50 states. You won't think you've gone back in time. The biggest deal about Clemson is that it is in a very small town. If you're ok with that, you will be fine. My son turned down Duke,Davidson, and UNC for Clemson, so come on down if you want to attend and up and coming school in a small SC town. You should visit when the kids are in session. Best of luck!</p>
