Hi,
I've moved high school after my sophomore year. Do I still need my old counselor to fill out the secondary school report? Btw my old school is overseas and I'm in the US right now.

Does the international supplement to the secondary school report have to be sealed and mailed like the official transcript? Can I get it faxed from the school and mail it myself (not sealed with school stamp)?

You need to have your grades from old school normalized to your new school grading system. When you send your official transcript to colleges it would be from your new school. If your new school weight grades, then you need to make sure you are given credit for honors and APs you took at your old school. It will have an impact on your ranking at your new school. You should review your new transcript before it is sent to colleges. We had few surprises with our younger daughter when she moved to her new school as a junior.

If you are a legal resident of US, you will not need to submit the international supplement.

Thank you for your really fast reply. I hold a visa in the US but I’m not a permanent resident yet (application pending)

I went to a high school with a british curriculum so do I still need the supplement?

As for the new transcript, the credits from my old school were transferred to my new school. But the new school didnt normalize my old grades. Aka. I have enough credits to graduate high school, but I don’t have grades for fresh and soph years in my new transcript

If your new school will not give you grades then you will need to have an official transcript from your old school, which I believe your new school should have. We had to bring one before the new school would enroll our daughter. When you apply to colleges, your new school would send both transcripts. If your old school has not send an official transcript to your new school, have them do so now.

Does your new school rank students? If so, how would they do it with 2 years of grades missing?

Speak with your college counselor now (may want to bring your parents) to find out when it comes to checking off which percentile you are relative to other students (it’s on the letter of rec from college counselor), how are they going to determine that? Would it be based by junior year grade or all 3 years? Ask about the international supplement also. I have a feeling that you probably will need it.
