moved in

well, I don't know if we just lucked out, but moved by son into Broward about 5:30pm last night. Was even able to park right across the street in a lot that can be parked in after 5pm by anyone. We were able to get a hand truck but really didn't need it. I had packed most items in Publix recycle grocery bags and it worked out great--easy to carry. We had a friend's daughter and her boyfriend to help us but we got everything up in no time. Maybe everyone heeded the advice to avoid Wed. or they came earlier in the day. I was worried about space but we put my son's bed up on the highest level and that leaves a ton of room under it for storage--even put his printer under the bed next to the desk.

that’s good news because we are headed to move into Broward today around the same time. hopefully we will have the same type of experience.

Same for me. I’m heading up alone, but I don’t expect to have any problems. I’ve got large Ikea bags to move in (think 20+ public grocery bags). There’s only small stuff to move in. I remember helping my brother move his mini-fridge… Since that’s not an issue, it’s basically just exercise.

I’m moving into my dorm Saturday–I hope it doesn’t rain then! Did anyone go into any of the stores like Wal-Mart or Target in Tallahassee the last couple of days? My cousin was in a Wal-Mart up there this week and said the store was a madhouse and that I should try to bring everything I need from home to avoid having to go to the store there this weekend because they are so crowded.

I actually went to Target this morning and it was relatively empty but it was only 9am. It might have been worse later in the day. The bad thing about getting to Tallahassee at 5pm is the rush hour traffic.

Yeah, I moved in yesterday to Wildwood around the same time and had no problems whatsoever. There weren’t many people, but there were enough for there to always be someone holding the door open for people holding boxes and such. The hard part was the multiple trips (luckily the officer didn’t care that 15 minutes turned into an hour) and unpacking.

No problems moving in today around 4:30 and was able to find a parking space too. :~)

We’re heading up today – plan to get there about 2. Hope we’re as lucky as you WTZ! (Two students in Deviney).

Deviney move in is relatively easy, just get all your stuff on the elevator if your kids are on the upper floors. Last year i was on the 10th :(

Sid, I’m in Deviney currently and it only has 7 floors…? :)

Moved into Deviney yesterday late morning with no problems–it was easy. I’m liking Deviney so far in a Soviet-era block apartment way; my roommate and I fixed the room up nicely if I may say. One feature of the room I really like is that the one wall of the dorm room is almost all windows which allows a lot of natural light into the room which I like. My desk faces the window and I can look outside from my desk chair and see the whole world! We ended up stacking the 2 beds in our room bunk-style because there was no other way to squeeze things around in the room otherwise. Housing must have got a deal on carpet remnant glue-down squares up in Dalton, Georgia; Deviney’s floor covering now is a an electric mix of every pattern and color imaginable–but it works for my feet and sorta my eyes! Gotta go, breakfast in Suwanee at 10:30, then church, then convocation. then President’s hootenanny/BBQ, then checking out campus some more.

OOPS my bad, i meant the 7th floor.

I keep mistaking the floors with the west side like Smith hall has 10 floors.

Yes, Deviney had a pretty good move in. It was a madhouse late Friday afternoon, but the cops were directing cars to the covered circle drive right in front and letting us unload, so it wasn’t too bad. We did some extra shopping on Saturday morning and it was far less crowded at drop-off then.

The dorm was nicer than we expected it to be. It is pretty old (and yes Soviet-era style), but the huge windows are nice and the closets are large by college dorm standards. I think the multi-colored carpet squares help a lot and the showers have doors (not curtains) so my daughter was pleased. It did smell a bit musty on the fourth floor though. I think the cooling system needs a good cleaning, but for now febreeze will have to suffice.
