Movie theater ticket price in your city

I just came back from the theater, where I watched "This is It", and imediatelly wanted to ask you all:

**
1) How much does a ticket in a regular movie theater cost in the city where you attend college?

2) Do students have any discount there?

3) Would you personally consider a night out to the theater a good first date?
**

I just paid $ 16.00 for a club seat (upper rows, free soda and couple seats - accomodating two without armrest between) to watch This is It.

I've got $ 2 discount upon presenting Univ. ID and I do think going to watch a movie is a usually very interesting first date (plenty of time to chat without the pressure of 'this is a date, what/when are doing next', plenty of things do talk about after, let alone we are usually hungry after the movie, which is an excuse to extend the date to a restaurant, pub or even to a KFC).

1) How much does a ticket in a regular movie theater cost in the city where you attend college?

2) Do students have any discount there?

It’s 7.50 with a student ID. but it kills me because at home I can see a movie for $3. Ugggh.

3) Would you personally consider a night out to the theater a good first date?
Likely wouldn’t get a second date from me unless there are other things we do as well. I love going to the movies but if someone doesn’t catch my attention on the first date I wouldn’t want to go again, and the movies doesnt allow for much interaction. If I am watching a movie or eating I’m not talking much.

$7.75, $6 w/ student ID on Tuesdays

**1) How much does a ticket in a regular movie theater cost in the city where you attend college? **

$6 for a crappy theater on campus that plays only old movies with a student ID. $8 for a decent theater with new releases…but it charges $11 after 6 PM, which is when most students can go anyway.

**2) Do students have any discount there? **

No discounts for the decent theater that plays new releases.

**3) Would you personally consider a night out to the theater a good first date? **

No. It’s too unoriginal and frankly boring. Plus how do you know what kinds of movies your date will enjoy? If you want to really impress her, I suggest you take her to a dance or other activity you believe she will enjoy, but one that will definitely allow for plenty of interaction…and I’m tempted to also add…one that won’t be something you normally do with your guy pals.

Ideas:
*formal dinner date…not something insanely expensive, but make sure it’s sit down (NOT KFC, my GOD)
*dance (again, not a slutty college party)
*concert (make sure she likes the band)
*picnic/walk in the park…find some different and delicious food to bring with you

But your best bet is to do something unique and special just for her.

1) How much does a ticket in a regular movie theater cost in the city where you attend college?
Usually $10-$12.

2) Do students have any discount there?
$3 movies on campus (some older and many early screenings of films). Otherwise, theaters range from not giving a discount to $7 movies.

3) Would you personally consider a night out to the theater a good first date?
Depends. There’s one theater nearby that I love since they show old movies and some really odd stuff that appeals to me. I love going on dates to that place. To a regular movie with a date who isn’t a huge movie buff? Awful idea.
