I don't know if this topic has already been discussed, being that I am somewhat new to CC. Just wondering if anyone has seen "Orange County" or "Stealing Harvard," and if so what are your thoughts on the movies? I thought OC was pretty good, especially when he finds out that people who wouldn't normally be a typical candidate are receiving letters of acceptance to Stanford.

Better Luck Tomorrow has some aspects of the college admissions process.

Everyone should watch it! It's got an all asian cast!

sounds good. I think I might rent that.

Risky Business details how Tom Cruise's character gets into Princeton:

"My name is Joel Goodson. I deal in human fulfillment. I grossed over eight thousand dollars in one night. Time of your life, huh kid?"

better luck tomorrow is so good!
but the direction is a ripoff of the styles of several directors.
stil...

Other movies dealing with colleges- A Cinderella Story, and The Perfect Score, and less directly, A Beautiful Mind and Good Will Hunting.

I wouldnt say its exactly a rip off, but it shows how the film is made by a new director, because they try a lot of different techniques out. you can tell its kind of film studenty.

if anyone's wondering

Plot Synopsis:
Ben is a perfectionist and overachiever whose tunnel vision leads to nothing less than graduating at the top of his class. As he struggles to achieve social success, he discovers his darker side. He and his friends: Virgil, Daric and Han lead a double life of mischief and petty crimes to alleviate the pressures of perfection. As their adopted identity grows, the gang tumbles into a downward spiral of excitement, excess and fun.

Reviews were pretty strong for the movie, I think Roger Ebert gave 4 outta 4 stars.

The Girl Next Door deals with a kid wanting to go to Georgetown. It's kind of a funny movie. Def not oscar worthy or anything, but entertaining. Maybe more entertaining for guys than girls. ;)

Ebert gives thumbs up or down, not stars

Orange County was the one with Shon, right? And Stanford?
If so, that was really good! He was so cool about everything, it was kinda cute :)
Not like these freaks here "OMG I have 2 Bs i'm totally screwed for every school"

no Joev. You're wrong.

look under 'Better Luck Tomorrow' at the top. you'll see the star rating. On the TV show he gives a thumbs up or thumbs down, but he always gives a star rating anyway.

legally blonde has some aspects of getting into Harvard Law School.

I found OC to be pretty refreshing because of Shon's choice at the end. Its good to see somebody choosing out of necessity rather than prestige every now and then.

How did the girl in legally blonde get into Harvard? I never got why, they just watch the video and she gets in? huh??

no, she scored perfect on the LSAT.

and she was in a ricky martin video

she got like 178 i think out of 180, which i believe is godly. i don't think anyone has ever gotten a perfect 180.

Spanglish is supposed to be the essay of a girl trying to get into Princeton, but it's wayyyyyyy to long to even be slightly realistic, hehe. Still, it was fun seeing the Princeton paraphernelia at the beginning :)

actually, she got 179 out of 180

and she has 4.0uw and ranks first in her class

you are correct taffyluchia. and shes a fashion major ;P. that is my ultimate favorite movie and I'm a guy. yep...
