I was filling out my interests section on the application, but I dont really know if they really want me to be truthful or not. Like for films, my favorite movies were the Hangover, The ugly truth and inglourious basterds. I am not gonna put the Hangover, because I know thats not gonna look good. But would Inglourious Basterds be bad?

put the hangover. nothing wrong with that

you sure with that haha

What are your other movies? If those movies are surrounded by more cerebral choices, it might be a nice–even insightful–change of pace. The same may apply on a larger scale if your movie list reads teenager but your book list consists of Nietzsche and Plato and the rest of your application is more intellectual.

Basically, your movie choices could very well help to add life to your application if you’re otherwise more “nerdy.” But if the adcoms already get a sense of your humanism from the rest of your app, I’d be wary.

Starship Troopers 1. It’s a controversial movie. When you have interview and they ask about this movie you can have A LOT to say.

I used Inglorious Basterds. It was a movie I enjoyed immensely thought it would be a nice change of pace. Also used some more popular relevant movies.

In all of my books and movie questions, I put an eclectic assortment. They are mostly intellectual novels with the occasional funny book thrown in. Hell, I used Calvin and Hobbes :)

haha yeah i put random stuff down too haha I put Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Taken, Inglourious basterds. etc I kinda wanted to put Hostel but that would freak people out haha I submitted it whew!

Give you a dollar if you put New Moon.

I put Inglourious Basterds! It’s one of my favorites in 2009. The Hangover is too, but it’s a bit over the top.

Can we put movies that I watched on Blu-ray? I already submitted and more than half of my movies are not recent…

yeah I was gonna put the Hangover but my mom told me it might not be a great idea haha Inglourious was such a good movie i agree!!
and yeah i think you can. and its fine to non recent movies. I put Love Actually which is not recent at all

I put Inglourious Basterds, The Hangover, Star Trek, Watchmen, and The Dark Knight…be honest

I applied to both Brown and Columbia and I am conflicted with both.

I listed Inglourious Basterds (although I’ve spelled it like Inglorious Basterds I just noticed; I’ve been switching between British and American spelling, and in between I make up words, alas.) and Milk and Stalker, a 1970s film by favorite filmmaker.

I hope Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince bodes well, there’s no way I’m not putting it insane fanatic that I am. Probably would avoid putting it on Brown’s ap though…

“BUT WHY IS THE RUM GONE???!”

yes you all know what I put ;)

i put : A clockwork orange, Amadeus, The Machinist, 500 days of summer, Inglorious Basterds, Mulholland Drive, La vita e Bella, Three Colors Trilogy, Roshomon, Edvard Munch, Faust

aww 500 days of summer was good
I put
Love Actually, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Inglourious Basterds, The Pianist, Taken, something else i forgot

The Fantastic Mr. Fox!!!

(of course!)

haha i put inglorious basterds! but i also had movies in italian, hindi, and french (we have a movie club at our school and pretty much all of my favorite movies are from there).
i think put what you want, as long as its not hardcore anime beasteality gay german porn or something
maybe as long as you balance it with some other more artsy or intellectual firlms TO IMPRESS THEM
but TO BE YOURSELF i think is more important, so stick with who you are and what you’re truly trying to portray yourself as
