I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.
I live on the East Coast in a small town, and would love to attend a college in the Northeast or New England. But there is a college in California I like, its a nice liberal arts college. Can anyone share experiences on moving away from college? How to handle it? I know most people do, but has anyone gone all the way across the country? Is the homesickness bad? Thanks
I am a parent, but my D2 went across the country to CA. Flying home for Thanksgiving wasn’t really an option, but except for that she settled in really well. She was super busy, so didn’t have problems bring homesick.
I’m the opposite from you, I live in CA but I go to a LAC in New England.
I’ll be honest, it was a lot harder than I thought it would be, especially when kids would go home for the weekend while I had to remember that I didn’t have that option. Unfortunately there was no easy solution for me because one of my biggest problems was that I was worried everything would change when I was gone–and there was just no way to internalize that it wasn’t true until I could see it for myself.
Wow, that’s deep! @Philpsych
