Moving during high school

next year my family will move across the country for my sophmore year mainly due to family issues. how understanding will colleges be in transferring high schools?

I don’t think it should be THAT big of a deal, since freshman year is mostly dead weight. However, this could mess up your mojo, and any relations you had at your previous school with clubs, teachers…etc. Colleges might be accepting of it early into the sophomore year, but then after that, you will have to shape up.

You mean just like every military family?

People move…it is a very normal thng to happen…I moved every year growing up…just find an ec you love that doesn’t have ,ajar tryouts…

It’s ridiculous to think colleges would have any kind of issue…

Shouldn’t be a problem, but pay close attention to how they transfer credits. I have known people moving in from schools (overseas, private) and new school would only transfer credit as college prep, even if old school considered it honors. If you have honors courses to transfer, ask the question. Mostly a factor is school uses weighted GPA

What would they say? “Omg, he transferred from one high school to another through no fault or decision of his own, we don’t want that kind of student here.”??

Kids worry about the darnedest things. Just focus on getting the best grades you can, and find some friends and get involved in some things so you show you can adapt to change and thrive even under difficult circumstances. Changing high schools is really hard, but if you smile and are friendly and kind, others will want to include you in their circles. Schools will be more likely to look favorably on how well you adjusted, and it will give you a great essay topic later.

As long as it’s not your senior year, there is really no reason to worry.
