"ABOUT THIS EVENT

As a new transfer student you are faced with unique opportunities and numerous choices. This reception will present an introduction to academic support programs, and feature transfer-friendly staff and current Cal students to answer questions. Student ambassadors will speak of their own experiences with faculty-mentored undergraduate research programs, educational study abroad, career internships, volunteer community service activities and/or student leadership opportunities. Campus staff will be available from the Financial Aid Office, Career Center, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, College Advising, Residential and Student Service Programs, Academic Achievement Programs and the Transfer, Re-entry, and Student Parent Center.

If you have any additional questions, contact Yanny Chavarria at socaloffice@berkeley.edu, 909-625-7418."

@Guardiangel - Sure! I don't mind if you hitch a ride, but how much luggage are you going to bring? Also, I'm a Spring '09 transfer, so I'll only be moving in earlier if I find an internship or job around the area... Shucks.

by brea do u mean like... brea mall.... with that cheesecake factory THAT brea?

i live by pathfinder... i m like 2 mins from brea LOL

Us So-Cal Transfers should stick together! LOL.

I'm planning to live in the Channing/Bowditch Apartments. Anyone thinking of living there?

Oh, and I have a friend who transferred to Berkeley and said it is an absolute must to live in a Transfer Dorm/Apartment sort of setting so that you'll get to meet more people.

yup... i heard that u HAVE to live in unit 2 or 1
i know friends at UCB that live at home...
wondering if they can help me get an appt then i pay them...
thats kinda illegal huh >_>

meh i think i really need to plan out a route from unit 2 to haas
cuz its pretty darn far.....
unit 2 is on map location F5
haas is C6ay across the campus... literally... literally...

why are there 3 different prices?
bowls seems closest to my classes. but i've heard bad things >_<

do we transfers have a chance at ihop? i mean ihouse =D

how much does meal plan cost btw?

I am filling out the application, atm; I don't see why transfer students wouldn't have a chance.

Here are the meal plans:

Ambassador (100 meals) $530.00@ $5.30/meal
Gold Passport (75 meals) $405.00 @ $5.40/meal
Lunch Brunch (20 meals) $108.00 @ $5.40/meal
Passport Plus (50 meals) $285.00 @ $5.70/meal
Passport (20 meals) $126.00 @ $6.30/meal

have u guys eaten there? its really really bad...
but i can't cook =.= so i guess i dun have the right to complain

Low Price Single
(S1) -
per person $6,056 $6,391 $12,447 45 rooms
what are the 3 different prices for btw?

Wait... you guys are filling out the Cal housing app? Can you post a link for me or something? I can't find it... :(
EDIT: never mind, Cal says you have to wait two days after SIR is recieved to apply... guess I'm just too eager...

Guadiangel, the first two prices are for the Fall and Spring semester, respectively; the last price is for the entire academic year.

And I have heard the food is terrible; but, you could always buy a minimal meal plan there, and buy a medium sized meal plan at the UCB dining commons.

hmm... if i have mandatory summer school in berkeley how do the fees apply?

You apply for summer session housing; the accommodations are listed in the link below:
