i was wondering if i'd be fine moving in on August 17 instead of on "move in day." i know technically you're allowed to, up to the Sunday before classes (though i wouldn't wait that late). but if i moved in Thrusday, would i be missing out on really worthwhile things like activities and seminars on that day? i mean, i'll be there but i'll probably be spending a while moving boxes up, down, and around.

Did you get your Welcome Week booklet in the mail? The only things scheduled on move-in day are Aloha Breakfast for Hawaiians, a Latino welcome, Parents Welcome, Parents Bon Voyage Reception, and Thornton School of Music New Student Convocation. If I weren't so excited about moving in, I'd skip this day too since I won't be attending these events.

yeah, i wish i could move in earlier just for the sake of moving in earlier, even if there isn't much to do that day. but my dad might have some problems taking two days off in a week. and because i'll be doing all the moving-in stuff on Thursday, i'll be missing a lot of what we'll be doing that day too...the seminars, etc. so i was wondering if the early-in-the-day Thursday things were worth going to.

Money 101 (12:00-1:00 pm)

There's lots more stuff after 1:00 pm, but my fingers are tired...hopefully it won't take you too long to move in!

 wow you didnt have to do that, i got it in the mail, sorry...thanks a lot though! yeah, i remember wanting to go to a few of those but not knowing if i needed to. hopefully i'll be able to move in a little faster at least since the crowd should be a little smaller. if not, i'll bring the whole family and run a relay :p

Haha OHH I get it now...you wanted to know if they were WORTH going to.

Ehh I have no idea, you should specify (warning: incoming freshmen, do not reply to this thread!)

Whatever, I was bored, I'd probably type up the whole booklet if you wanted me to. School needs to start soon!

Is there a link to the website with the USC welcome week activities? What is the entertainment this year and what day is it?

Unfortunately, the welcome week website, http://sait.usc.edu/ca/welcome_week.htm, still has 2005 information.

I don't know what you mean by "the entertainment," but there's a "Dive-In" Movie Thursday night at the pool.

hi Margarita - I think the previous year there was a comedian (Jamie Kennedy?) for welcome week. Thats what I meant by entertainment.

should i just bring two of my sisters, one sister's friend, my parents...and just let them move everything in while i go to the seminars? :p

i was thinking about attending the Academic Success Seminar, the First-Year 15 Student Success Program, one of the Succeeding as a USC Student sessions, maybe What it Means to be a Trojan, maybe the Guide to Online Communities (but i dont wanna feel like i'm getting lectured about it...), maybe Sex Signals (an hour and a half though?!), and checking out the two later events like the movie and the Lyon Center thing.

Here's the 2006 one if you still need it.

Half of my stuff will be moving in few days later too so hopefully I wont be alone carry all my heavy electronics to the dorm. =_= tsk tsk

AWESOME, they finally updated it!
