Would it be awkward for a Freshman to move in a day or two before the official move-in date of August 24th. I was planning on coming up at least a day ahead of time, but I am wondering about things to do and services available for a freshman before the official date. I don't want to be sitting in my room for a day with nothing to do or no one to hang with. Would you not recommend this or is it no big deal?

I am not sure what happens on the official move-in date vs. a day or so early.

If you move in early it gives you a chance to meet and get to know others who come early as well. Last year on my floor at least 3-4 people moved in really early (move in day was on Wednesday and they came the Sunday before that), and by the time the rest of us got there they were already good friends.

Dining services are limited at that time though, I think the only place that was open last year during early move-in was the cafe at Eigenmann.

Overall, a day or two early won’t make much of a difference. Lots of early movers like to go out those nights too if that’s your thing.

Also last year, the actual move in day was not even close to as hectic as they buttered it up to be so if that’s your reason for moving in early, it’s not neccesary.

Anyone who is planning on being on staff for RPS will be moving in on Aug. 21st. Also, people who are attending IFS have the option of moving into their dorms on Aug. 19th. So there will be people there. I think if you go to <a href=“AIT Service Portal”>AIT Service Portal; you can apply for early arrival. Not sure though. I’ll be there on Aug. 19th.
