Hey, I moved in the middle of high school. I think i've made a pretty smooth transition, but all of the activities I used to do, I couldn't continue. My old school was much better than my new one and offered many more AP classes, of course, I had to move before taking advantage of this. Does moving hurt your application? Or does it prove you are adaptable?

Dont worry, colleges will understand since its not uncommon for people to move or change schools during highschool. If you get good grades and take advantage of your resources at your new school, its shows your ability to adapt to a new environemnt-which will be a advantage for you in the admissions process. This could be addressed in teacher/GC recs, or in your essay. But don
t
whine
about it-rather, take it positiviely and say that it had been a good experience for you. Just keep your grades up and it
ll be okay.

I spent my freshman year in norway (where i was born and lived for 15 yrs), and then moved to Busan, Korea, and got a jump to the 11th grade instead of going to the 10th. I had to change school again, to a city in Taejon, Korea, for my 12th. so I had a lot to write for my essay :D ...I wrote about how I found it easy to adapt to changes because of my exposure to an international community since the age of 3...etc. etc. and how my meeting with the Dalai lama made me more accepting of other cultures etc. i showed how i initiated new things everywhere i went and since i cudnt assume any leadership role due to not being steady in any particular school, I had to do something NEW to be able to be influential...I made the whole thing into a positive experience. My grades were simply awesome, but due to time constraint I had to take my SATs only once, and got miserable scores. Just watch about planning ahead of time for college when transferring schools, cuz time just FLIES when u change places...

ok i moved from INDIA to the US . I should say it was a pretty big change. I think its a good thing ( i hope it is )
