Moving in tomorrow

We are in the process of packing up the cars for tomorrow's drive to Orlando for early move in(sorority recruitment). Hard to believe that this day has finally come. We got an email that DD's textbooks will be available for pickup on Thursday at the bookstore (we preordered them online). I've been reading through old threads for advice for the Towers room move in and picked up some great tips (we are bringing a small nightstand with us and a tension rod with curtain panels to cover the closet). DH is bringing his small hand truck to help ferry items in. Does anyone know where the best place to unload the car is (near Tower 1)? Is there a loading zone since the entrance is so far from the street? It is a 3 plus hour drive for us each way and we need to be back home by 7 PM so wish us luck.

Just got back from move in. FYI, there is no good place to put the cars. Bring a dolly or hand truck. Some people put their cars across the street in the parking spots (parallel), some people pulled their cars into the Fire lanes on either side of the Towers (on the sidewalk) since there are doors there into the building. Many people pulled into the parking garage and just used dollys or hand trucks to ferry their belongings inside.

Was parking for move in allowed in the towers garages? If not, would it then be a good idea to go get my towers permit for the space first so I could park there?

Last year parking was allowed in the garages; no one enforced the permit rules until after Sunday. During the first floor meeting on Sunday evening, they told all the residents that if they didn't have permits, get their cars out of the garages or they would be towed. Until that point ... it was essentially a free-for-all. This also means that if you have a permit, you'll find it difficult to get your "real" space until folks clear out from moving in.

We were told that also. You can park anywhere in the garages for move in and no one will bother you until Sunday.

Also, it is so hot during move in. Wear light clothing and bring a cooler of water bottles or gatorade! When you check into Towers, they give you a room key for your room only and then you go on another line and they program your UCF card and give you a four digit code (personal) for your dorm and room. From then on, you just swipe your card and punch in your four digit code to get into both your dorm (any door...there are doors on either side as well) AND your apartment. Your four digit code is yours alone (my daughter's apartment-mate had a different code).
