<p>I'm thinking I might send the duvet cover in the luggage--and ship the actual duvet from an online supplier. He won't need the duvet until October anyway. Luckily, he's the antithesis of the Princess and the Pea. He won't mind sleeping on the sleeping bag for a night or two if his linens aren't there.</p>

<p>Our local box store allows us to weigh D's bags there. I get the weight when I think we have it all, and use a postage scale at home to adjust to add or subtract from the original weight if we have to change things. We came in right on the money each time.</p>

<p>Assuming that someone on the other end will have a car, at least briefly:Bed Bath and Beyond.</p>

<p>Start saving their coupons now (despite what is printed, they never expire). You can shop in your home town, make a list of everything you think you'll need, and then it's all waiting for you on the other end in the store closest to your student's school.</p>

<p>Pretty sweet! I'm sure there have been problems, but I haven't heard of any. And if, once you see the room you determine that you won't want some of the stuff you selected, you just don't purchase it.</p>
