I'm living in an apartment with my mom and sister right now. In a few days I'll be flying to another state to live with my grandma, and that's where I'll spend this Senior year of high school.

On the common application, there is a space for "Permanent Address" and another for "Mailing Address". I'm guessing that my mom's place will remain my permanent address, since she's the legal guardian, while my grandma's will be the "Mailing Address"...

1 - Is that correct?
2 - Some supplements ask me to put my "address". Also, when adding recommender information, Columbia asks for our "address". Do I put the mailing address or the permanent one?
3 - My grandmother lives in a large expensive house, while my mom's income is 20K/year (and no dad). I don't want colleges to think I'm "scamming" them by asking for financial aid, and writing about my poorer circumstances in essays. Will they look at my grandmother's house / equity and factor that into my situation?

Thanks

^ Giving your questions a try…

Yes

I would put the ‘permanent’ one

Maybe FA (QB or other) would look at ‘zip code’ - Better to use ‘permanent address’ and have your Mom forward your mail to you.
(expensive zip code MAY be a hinderence??)
Alternately - ask QB??? & if you have to put down your Grandma’s zip code - be sure to explain in your essay

As already answered in your previous thread where you asked this question

your Mom is the one whose information you will put for financial aid. Not your Grandma. Your instate tuition eligibility for State schools will also be based on your Mom’s state of residence.

^ I know, but that was mostly for financial aid. Right now I’m just wondering about the common app, supplements, etc.

So everywhere, I’ll put my address as the permanent one that my mom lives in, in another state. i’ll only put my grandma’s where it asks for the mailing address. i just hope it doesn’t seem to weird to be attending a high school in a different state than what i report my main address to be, hah. i really hope this doesn’t hinder me…
