Moving in.

My friend informed me that a friend of ours went to UCSD at the assigned time, and ended up waiting in a long line for their room key. My friend is recommending that we arrive at our assigned time either 1-2 hours early so we can beat that line. I was just wondering if thats a smart thing to do? Are the lines really that bad?

theres going to be another timeslot that is immediately before yours, unless your time is 8am. so by going early you'll just be waiting in line with the people from the earlier timeslot. :p

but really, last year there was no line at all when i moved in.

Looks like UCSD students don't follow directions.. :P

my timeslot is 12pm to 1pm, so I guess we can go early to wait in the other line weeeee!

No one really follows the timeslots. People have busy schedules, they have things to do, or they just don't like waking up early. Like most things, things tend to be least busy really early in the morning or later at night. Plan accordingly.

the only way to beat potentially long lines is to move-in a day early so you miss the crowd for your floor/building...

^ even that wouldn't work too well - there is an acute lack of turnarounds and space to move in, especially around Rieber with its three buildings and Hedrick with two. There will be people moving into all of the buildings throughout the weekend. What floor they're going to doesn't impact the line lengths.
