Moving into dorms for college

Is it normal to carry a luggage?

You have to transport your belongings somehow…?

Yeah, I know, but does everyone use a luggage?

No, some people use trashbags.

i used like 4 or 5 40 gallon plastic bins from walmart. stacked the bins on top of each other and put them under my bed.

*** seriously?

we have carts we can use at my school during move-in. so i brought my stuff in hampers and loaded up the cart/bin thing at the car and brought it up to my room. no luggage necessary-dont buy it unless you already have it or if you are out of state.

As sapphire_ocean said bring it if you are an OOS student. How do you plan on bringing clothes during your breaks back home w/o a suitcase?

Depends for every school but Purdue had orientation leaders and RAs assisting students one by one at each dorm. They had those hotel luggage carts for students to use so it’s faster and more efficient compared to carrying each box/bag/whatever one by one. Johnson & Wales had organization members helping out new freshmen but no carts were provided. If you have one of those wagons you pull around then I’d bring that if your school doesn’t offer a cart for you to use. Might as well have an easy move-in experience…

I find suitcases to be unnaturally bulky and space-wasting, so I packed everything into containers and trash bags that could be filled completely and later used for storage/trash in my room.

I flew to college and naturally had some suitcases with me. As others have said, suitcases are bulky and may be hard to store in a small dorm room. But if you need them, what else can you do?

No,

Just put all your clothes on top of a comforter and then roll up the comforter/blanket for maximum effectiveness and easy transportation.

If you are traveling far, you can use space saving bags. Just be careful to not to squish your clothes, pillows, etc too much or for too long.

But yuo have to move in alot of stuff. Like blankets, pillows, clothes, etc…

are you out of state? or are you driving there?

yeah it’s a 4-hour drive towhere i live, i am asian as well, but at my college there is no asian food lol

hahaha my roommie this year lived 7 hours away. load up your car as much as possible, use suitcases(if you have them) if it fits better in your car then empty the suitcases and give them to your parents to take back with them so its not taking up space in your room. youd be surprised how many kimchi noodles and ramen you can fit in one suitcase =] yay have fun your first year!
