Hello,
I am currently a student at a local school. I will be finishing out the fall term and moving to another city when it is done. I am trying to find out if I can add a second school to my fasfa and have it cover the new school for winter term. I know fasfa can take a while to be approved, but I am trying to find out if barring time constraints is this possible.

FAFSA isn’t “approved” really, it’s just processed. If you add a new school to your FAFSA and resubmit it shouldn’t take more than a few days to process. The lag time is usually at the financial aid office as they need time to prepare the award package. Have you been accepted yet?

I need to decide between finishing my AA or going straight the the University. I only have 21 credits left for the AA and would be done this coming spring. The move is rather sudden, but will be best for the whole family. But I fear it is goign to mess with me.

one of the biggest things you will face is losing credits when you transfer from one school to another. If you finish your AA, you can transfer straight into a 4 year school without any real loss of credits keeping you on track with your graduation plans.

I am hoping I won’t loose too many. I wish I could hold off the move until spring, but it doesn’t look likely. And unfortunately the credits I still need includes 3 classes with labs and I have to do them local.

Ask your new school to do a transfer course articulation for you asap. Is it possible that you could rent a room/share an apartment in order to finish your associate’s in the spring? It may save you an extra semester at a more expensive school, since those transferring in with an associate’s degree often are exempt from completing the expanded gen ed requirements that most four year schools have.

Nope staying isn’t possible. I might be buying a house in the differant town. It is a great chance and loosing some credits will be worth the chance.
Thank you for your advice. As soon as we know for sure if the I will talk to the advisors at the school I am at and at the two I might be going to.
