Hi, I'm currently in middle school. I was planning on going to Choate for high school, but I recently found out that I'll be moving to California. My parents already made the necessary arrangements so that I'll be attending the Harker School. Will it be a big change? I've gone to a public school most of my life, but I've been getting into the mindset of a boarding school. I hope the change won't affect me too much. Any comments or advice for helping me transition?

You should contact tchaikovsky, who switched from Andover to Harvard-Westlake. (similar situation from prep to private). I'm sure he has advice. You haven't even started your high school career, so it really won't be a big change. (the largest would be from middle school to high school, which everyone has to deal with). Good luck!

Oh and did you know that californiakid goes to Harker/?!!

What omggg that's crazy!!!

Thats so cool! I will be attending Harvard Westlake this upcoming fall as well. Im entering 9th, too!

Ohh yeah that's a very good school :)

Harker School? Nice! I know a few friends there. It used to be a boarding institution (don't know if it still is). Very good school. I've been there myself, and the campus is pretty good.

I didn't know that californiakid attended there though. I've always thought that she was a SoCal person.

Very cool kchen! What school do you go to? (I see you live in San Jose)

Tiankai Liu went to the Harker School.

Hmm...I go to The Harker School :-). I don't know what you mean by "Prep School to Private". Trust me, Harker is everything a prep school can be, excepting for the boarding. Anyways, PM me if you have any questions!
