Moving to and from college

In our area, the Enterprise and competitors' two seat cargo vans are hard to come by, and you need a reservation up to a month or six weeks ahead to guarantee one during heavy use periods (around end of the month, known college moving times).

Budget, UHaul and others have similar options, but these are often cube vans or box trucks, ranging in capacity from slightly larger than a cargo van to a full box truck, more suited to 4plus rooms of "stuff". These are for the most part 2 passenger only configurations, although some of the larger units may have the old bench style seat.

These tend to be more readily available, but at end of month times a reservation is still your best bet.

Newmassdad,

H says he recalls going to a Toyota dealership and asked to rent their biggest van with the kind of backseat that could be folded down into a flat floor. Then we sat on the remaining bench (or bucket?) seats. He also bargained with them a bit. I recall they brought it in from a neighboring city. He had a longstanding relationship with that dealer who serviced our cars regularly.
