Moving towards Columbia's Decision Date

Ok so here's the situation,

I'm an Econ major.I applied as transfer to Columbia for the upcoming fall. The last day to drop a class at my college is May 14. Columbia's decision comes out somewhere between May1-14,15 (judging from pass threads & rumors). The class that I am endangered of getting a C/D in is an Accounting class (I have a 3.8 GPA overall), I'm just struggling a lot for no apparent reason.

According to Columbia's official statement to transfers I am eligible for transfer. I have taken total of 24+ units this year. However here's the unique situation. If I withdrawal from the accounting class I will no longer be a full time student. I will be .7 unit short (I have 11.3 units).

And I have gone through the statement of transfers many times, it doesn't talk about whether a student needs to be a full time student. I suppose Columbia assumes if a student has taken 24units they must be or counted as a full-time student. I called the office today and the receptionist told me that I need to notify them through email that I changed my class. How should I go about doing this? A Concise letter? or 2-3 paragraph letter explaining my situation.

Furthermore, if I am indeed accepted as a transfer to Columbia will my application be rescinded. I mean Columbia College doesn't even have Accounting related courses as an undergrad. So if i am accepted I won't get an credit I assume. I am going to retake my accounting class during Summer, so will that makeup for the withdrawal, since I'm completing it prior to enrollment.

I know my chances are already slim enough for Columbia. I just don't want to get accepted only get my application rescinded. Bottom line is I don't want to get caught with my pants down. If I don't drop the class and Columbia rejects me, that C or D will destroy my GPA.

I need that class for Haas as a pre-req. If anybody was interested.
I will be cross posting this in the Columbia and transfer forum hoping for more feedback.
Plus this thread will serve future transfer students.

The problem is this post is that it pretty much assumes you’re gonna get into Columbia but for this one class. You’re f’ed as a transfer applicant b/c it’s pretty much impossible for anyone to get in regardless.

You shouldn’t have a C/D on your transcript for any reason (jobs, grad school…not just Columbia) if you can avoid it, so I’d think smart and drop the class.

The apparent reason to me is that you’re just not good at accounting.

You want to transfer from Cal to Columbia?? Why not just stay at Cal?

…maybe because he/she would rather be at columbia?

I see your point CO2. Yea fingers crossed on Columbia’s decision. No my point though is that I don’t want to get my application thrown out after they approve of me. But I won’t say I’m not good at accounting per se. I took a lower level intro course and got a B+ in it (4pts away from an A but she won’t give it to me literally 89.999 sucks but i know its life).
Retaking it during the summer seems to be the best option now since I’ll have less obligations and classes to juggle with.
