For my senior year (this year) my family is moving across the country (literally) and I'm switching high schools as a result. What are the things I need to do now and what information do I need to have? And how can I explain about my moving situation on my QB/college app?

Well, at first let me say good luck. It stinks that it happens when it does, but make the most of it.

Here’s a few things that I would do:
- Quickly find out the college application process at your new school. Who is the guidance counselor, etc.
- Make sure you list your old high school as a prior one on the applications.
- You can still get recommendations from your prior high school teachers. Get their contact information before you leave for good. And politely explain to them the situation and ask for a recommendation.
- Get your transcripts sent from your previous high schools to the colleges.

Good luck.

whatever you do, do not expect all school systems to work the same way. this includes the teaching style, difficulty, everything. i moved before my freshman year and my sophomore year – my grades were messed up for a long time before i got the hang of things.

most apps have a section where you can supply additional information to supplement what is covered in the app. You should mention your change of schools in that section.
