I graduated in 2005 with a BA in communication with a 2.3 GPA. Since then I have worked as a receptionist for a year and as a clerical assistant for a prestigious financial services firm in NYC for a year. I also worked as a clerical temp for an agency that just deals with non-profits. On the GRE I got V-700 Q-700 W-5. I have volunteered at NYU in the education dept. and I should be volunteering a new york presbytarian hospital soon. I am going to take some courses at a community college to get recommendations from the professors. I am interested in going to NYU Wagner, Columbia Mailman School, and Baruch. Do you think that I can be admitted to any of these schools?

I think you are very competitive for the MPA/MPH program. I don't know the admissions requirements for MPH programs (My background is social work): do they look for someone with a public health background? Have you done anything related to public health issues? If not, why do you think the MPH is the right field for you?

Your GRE score is *very * competitive, however I don't think your GPA is enough for Mailman. I don't know the admission minimums for the program, but you may want to contact the dept. to see if they have a threshold GPA or not (I have pasted the admission statistics below for Mailman)

I didn't realize the OP has a low GPA. The OP needs to do something related to public health (activities, work experience) to offset the low GPA. Most grad schools have a GPA minimum of 3.0.
