MPulse 2011 Acceptances?

Anyone heard from the Vocal Arts Insitute?

re MPulse: Does it seem to everyone that if a kid is accepted they receive an e-mail first and then a follow-up letter, but rejections are done by letter only? That’s what is sounds like from other posts and since I’ve been in communication with the office and was told that letters were going out today, I’m kind of assuming that that translates to rejection. Any thoughts on this? Thanks! Congrats to those who’ve been accepted!

I don’t think they would have emailed only some of the acceptances and not others. I think no email means you are not in. Just guessing but that makes sense. I post when we get the (reject?) letter.

Got my acceptance into TDA last night!!!

^Congrats, RyanMatthews!! Daughter attended TDA last summer, and loved the program! Let me know if you have questions!

I got my TDA email last night as well- I was screaming to my mom and started shaking out of pure shock and excitement- I had to put together my audition in two days, long story- I wasn’t expecting to get in, but what a fantastic surprise!!! Can’t wait!

I got my TDA acceptance, too!!! I can’t wait!

My D received her non-acceptance letter from MPulse yesterday. Like one or two of the other posters here, we were awaiting a response from MPulse before pursuing other options for this summer. If any of you are aware of summer programs that are still open (we already know about Carnegie Mellon), I would appreciate hearing from you. (By the way, what are OCU and TDA?)

TDA is the Theatre and Drama Academy, one of the programs you can apply to from mpulse, like the Musical Theatre Workshop or the Vocal Arts Institute. OCU I believe is the Oklahoma City University summer program.

Thanks. Sorry for being late to the discussion.

Dhurtado, I believe Oklahoma City U is still taking apps for their summer program with a higher registration fee. Also, University of the Arts’ is still taking submissions. I’m sure there are others if you can take the time to check, perhaps through the summer program thread on the main MT page. Good luck to you!

Thanks much abparent.

Dhurtado…I was just wondering what part of the country you live in. My D still has not heard from MPulse. We keep checking the mail for her non-acceptance, but until we see it in black and white we cannot be 100% sure.

Got the mpulse rejection in the mail today, but it is ok since my daughter was accepted to OCU. She is super excited about attending their summer program. We heard such good things about it :)

My son got his reject, too. He is a sophomore so will try again next year. He is going to BTP- it’s all good. They will all have amazing summers! Have a great time everyone! You are where you belong.

Well…it finally came in the mail today. My D is a sophomore as well and will re-audition next year. Enjoy, all who were accepted this summer!

Hi all, I haven’t posted for a while, but wanted to share that my daughter finally got her rejection letter last week from MPulse as well. It seemed like it took forever to come, but when it finally did, at least we felt prepared, and it was good to have some closure. So BTP-bound for us as well! We look forward to meeting everyone at BTP in July!

Is there much time, if any, during the Musical Theatre Workshop that is spent on monologue and song selection for college auditions?

from Kim the director’s email to me

Students will also work in the regular classes on monologues and songs that can later be used as audition material if they choose. They will also receive a private voice lesson and can choose to sign up for a monologue private.

Thank you fourkidsmom!
