If you applied for MPulse and got in…or if you just applied.

We can talk here!

woo.

Have you heard already?

Noope. I haven't.

Hey i applied to the musical theater program, by way of DVD audition, do you know how many people they take?

My D did not apply/audition, but I heard from an acquaintance whose kid did that they should send letters out early next week. Not sure how many they take. Good luck to all of you who are waiting.

Letters came today on the east coast.

Do they let everyone know, both those they accept and must pass on?

They send out acceptances AND rejections.

They usually take around 20 I believe.

Last summer there were 23, 15b, 8g....20 rising seniors, 3 rising juniors. Good luck! My son loved the program.

Any idea how many usually apply?

Did your son audition in person or on DVD?

We had visited UM Sept 05 and due to a heavy rehearsal schedule, distance, my son auditioned via dvd. :)

Did your son have it professionaly made? Was it one big take or each song done over and over in pieces and you put them together?

My son did not use a recording studio, but did have a videographer tape the audition. Everything was taped in one sitting, not in one take.

Just thought I'd share our experience here for future reference. My D auditioned in person this year and had I known what I know now I would have probably suggested she'd audition by video submission. The audition is really, really short and I think you are better able to demonstrate your diverse qualities by putting together a video - of course there is also the handy fact of eliminating the cost of travel and involved time etc. :). Unless you live within driving distance or schedule a campus visit, there really is no need to audition in person as we have learned since that a lot of last year participants actually "auditioned by tape". My D absolutely loves UMich and so any chance to visit she happily jumps at, but it really is no MUST to get into the summer program.

Received a packet today, but won't open until S comes home from school. He auditioned via DVD. Optimistic...

I got waitlisted, be honest, what are the chances of me getting in?

You'd be surprised because many kids apply to different programs and may already have committed elsewhere, good luck! :)

MTaddict08 - May be I should give you a bit more info. I do know firsthand of people who got in off the waitlist both last year and the year before. However, some of who gets off my be contingent upon "type". If a boy does not accept an invitation, they may sustitute with another male, if a soprano declines, another soprano may get in, etc.
Also, my D received an MPulse rejection letter today, which for us was a blessing in disguise, since she has already been accepted and committed to NYU's CAP21 program. She would have been really torn since she loves both schools, but mentally she is already "in New York" for the summer and wants her junior year to be done and over with :). Just in case MPulse is your first choice this summer, we will send lots of positive thoughts your way!

They had over 150 applications this year

My S received an acceptance letter today and is thrilled. He didn't audition, instead we prepared a DVD in its place.
