My D is going to audition on Sunday, March 19...don't know the time yet. I asked this same question a while back and was told that they take 10 boys and 10 girls. However that hasn't been confirmed by anyone. If you email the program at MPulse@umich.edu they get back to you very quickly. I have been very impressed with response time to questions I had.

Last year there were 12 boys and 13 girls at MPulse. The year before there were 10 and 10 I think, but as they have gone nationwide, rather than just from Michigan as the program used to be, Prof. Wagner decided to increase the number slightly I was told last year. I have heard he does not want a large program, however, so probably 12 and 12 might be expected this year. If you call Dody Blackstone, she is always willing to help with information.

Does anyone know more about what the auditions are like? Since this is our first experience with a college "audition" we don't know what to expect. I realize it isn't like the real deal next year and that a monologue and song are required. Is there any kind of an interview?

Does anyone who has been there know of freshman or sophmores going to MPulse for MT? The website said it was for juniors with consideration to very talented younger students. It seems to me, though, that such a competitive program would probably take mainly juniors. Anyone have insight?

Last summer at MPulse there were 25 kids---13 girls and 12 boys. Of those, most were rising seniors, but about six (?? I'm sure of 3 girls and 2 or 3 boys) were rising juniors (my D being one of them). One of the boys actually had been there since he was a rising freshman I think!!
