Did anyone else apply to the MPulse Musical Theatre Workshop for the summer of 2012?

We uploaded my son’s yesterday.

That’s awesome. Mine is all done too!

Let me know if you hear. My son applied last year as a rising junior and did not get in. They do not mail a day before March 30! He went to Broadway Theatre Project. Good thoughts your way!

When did you find out last year?

Hope your son gets in this year!

It was mailed March 30 so we got is around April 2 but I think the people who got in were notified a few days earlier via email.

I just looked up last year’s posts and the email acceptances came around March 23 and the rejects arrived by mail March 28.

Hey everyone! I went to MPulse 2011 and it was an unbelievable experience. I heard back around early-mid March. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! It is a great program, and helped me SO much!

An overview of your day there would be great. Dorms? Weather?

My son just applied. That was alot of work for a pre-college summer program. I know it is a very competitive program but does anybody know how many kids apply. This seems like a very long waiting process. Good luck to all.

It appeared that we were number 247 to apply. What was your application number. I believe they take 40. The previous poster was there and should be able to tell us how many they took.

Ok. In the morning, we would have dance from 8:30 to 10, then acting from 10 to 11:30. One half of the group went to dance first, others acted first. Then we ate lunch/went back to the dorms until 1. At 1 we would return to the Walgreen, usually for a vocal class, and maybe a lecture, until around 4:30 or 5. Sometimes it would be masterclasses, more acting, working on acting in songs, etc. After dinner (around 7, 7:30) we would either have activities or a night class with Mr. Wagner. Usually there were concerts or activities we had to attend, until 9 or so. We had to be in our rooms by 10. It was quite a busy day, there is not much time for rest. Weekends are relaxing, however!
The dorms are just regular college dorms. Nothing special, NO A/C. It was BRUTALLY hot this summer at UMich…If your child/you end up being accepted…BRING A FAN!!! It gets HOT!

Wow that is alot of kids. How did you figure out the number? What other programs are kids applying too? For the poster who attended last summer, are you applying to college programs and how did this program help. Thanks.

Well. I auditioned at Ithaca, PennState, and UMich so far. I just received my first acceptance to PennState yesterday, which is one of my top choices! It’s is suuuperrrr exciting! I still have one more audition, Indiana U. It’s exciting!
I couldn’t have done it without MPulse. I learned everything from how to be a professional to how to maximize my talent while staying true to myself. We did a lot of audition work, which really helped me too. I honestly couldn’t imagine how I would have gotten accepted without MPulse.

qjo2882- Congratulations on your acceptance to Penn State. That is an awesome program. After helping my son with this process of applying to just one summer program, I know that you must have worked incredibly hard to apply to all of those programs. Good luck on the rest of your schools. It would be a dream come true for my son to attend Mpulse. However, it does seem that there will be alot of competition. Any thoughts on other programs? Thanks

It was a lot of work getting together materials for prescreens, then also traveling to campuses to audition. I have heard a bit about Stage Door and Interlochen, but nothing that I could give information about. I think MPulse is completely unique, however! They tell us that it is like the first semester packed into 3 weeks.

Maggie1962- when you uploaded your app they gave you a number. I am assuming we were the 247 upload to Mpulse. That could be a random number…

Maggie, my son is also applying to Performing Arts Project. It would be a tough decision if he got into both.

We got #321 while uploading late last night. I’m assuming that’s the number that had applied by then.
Now it’s just the waiting game…
