MS admissions vs. PhD admissions

Hi all,

I am going to be a senior in undergrad this year and am weighing my post-graduation options. I am a Bioengineering major, and am currently leaning towards working in industry for a few years and then pursuing an MS in either BioE/BME or MechE (I am interested in designing prosthetics). I know that for PhD programs, the most important criteria are research experience, then GPA and LORs in some order, then GREs. Is this also the case for MS programs even though they aren't as research focused? Also, which type of program is typically harder to get into?
