Would anyone possibly know the acceptance rate for admission to the MS in Commerce for students who apply from schools other than UVa, such as Emory University, Vanderbilt, etc.. ? Inasmuch as there are obviously a limited number of seats for the 1 year Masters Program, I was wondering if only a handful of non UVa undergrads were accepted each year. Thanks. Happy holidays. Marc

I have two friends who are doing the one year program from Duke and they seem to really like it. It’s probably not as competitive as you think, apply!

UVA’s grad school isn’t as highly ranked as its undergrad (whose rank is probably inflated anyway.)

That’s true, UVA’s grad school generally isnt as good. But Darden, Curry, are top 20. Law is T-14, medicine is T-20.

It’s not really fair to generalize and say that their “grad school isn’t generally as good.” Grad school is a whole horse of another color. School doesn’t matter so much as the department. UVA has many top notch graduate programs. English is 10th, History is 20th, the A-School is well regarded as well. There are probably other departments that are strong as well (Psych? Politics?), but those two immediately come to mind.

UVA Law is #10, Darden is #13 and Curry is #21.

Also grad school at UVA (even for in state students) is ridiculously overpriced. Of course that’s subjective, I’d say paying more than 10,000 a semester for anything is overpriced :)
