Hey guys I am currently planning on pursuing a grad degree in CS. However more recently I have stumbled upon HCI and I thought some of the stuff being done looked pretty interesting. I was wondering if anyone would have any info on the pros & differences of getting a masters in HCI as opposed to CS with maybe a focus in HCI? (Is there even such a thing?)

Also if anyone could give suggestions of schools where HCI is strong with more of a CS focus?

I am attending the School of Information at University of Michigan this fall. They have a HCI concentration. You can check other schools like Carnegie Mellon and Georgia Tech. HCI grads typically work for Intel, Google, Sun Microsystems, and much more.

from DS experience, there is a very strong component for human interaction before the computer interaction. Specialization within HCI is dependent on your PI. If you want a strong CS in HCI look for the PI not the school or program.
