MS in Operation Research ...Please help me to select....UMIch Vs Gatech

Hi Guys....

I am an international student and I have got admits from UMich and Gatech for Masters in OR.

Can you please suggest me which one I should choose.....

guys…please help…

What’s your thing … optimization modeling/Supply chain techniques or manufacturing modeling?

If the former, I’ve seen first hand some of the stuff GT has been doing and it is impressive. If the latter, I have no opinion.

I would go to Michigan.

@ctyankee

Yes , I am interested in optimization and SCM…
So you have any idea how these stuffs are in UMich…

@vociferous

Thank you for our reply but can you please suggest me some reasons for your decision.
That wud be really helpful.

What authority do you have to speak on the topic? This isn’t necessarily me accosting you, but your opinion either way would require justification. GT’s ISyE program is very impressive. I only know the supply chain side because that’s what the people I know studied, but I assume it is competitive in all areas of ISyE to earn that #1 ranking by a fairly large margin.

^ Everyone is biased.

GT is the best in isye but guess who comes after GT, UMich. This is a tough choice. Did you see any professor’s research you might be interested in? That might make the decision easier.

No first hand knowledge whatsoever. BUT Michigan’s rep in this area is minimal, at best. Michigan State does have a rep, (in mixed-integer optimization specifically) but not Michigan.
