well you were too late for USC-

“Graduate Application - Applications due January 1, 2012”

http://dornsife.usc.edu/earth/graduate/graduate_admissions.cfm

My guess is your applications were received too late to be considered

ohh…sorry abt d careless writing …i applied in USC in the last week of jan…the deadline for international applicant was 15th of feb…it was U of H where i applied in the last week of feb…i did got their e-mails regarding receiving of documents…so i guess…i m safe on those grounds…!! i just need an answer from dem…coz its getting late n my patience is runnin out…

USC says this:
"Please note: All deadlines for USC graduate programs are set by individual academic departments, not the Office of Admission. Deadlines vary from program to program and are subject to change. Please refer to the homepage of your intended graduate department or contact them directly for this information. "

and the Earth Sciences deadline was Jan 1. 2012, not Feb 15.
I advise you to contact the Dept of Earth sciences.

“How will I find out if I am admitted?”
You will receive a letter from the USC Dean of Admission. Please note that official decisions are provided by postal mail only. Information about housing, orientation and the steps you need to take to prepare for your studies will be enclosed with your admission letter.

Checking Your Application Status

During the peak admission period (January to May), admission processing takes a minimum of four weeks after we receive your application.

You may log back into your application anytime to check your current application status. Please note that the status check only displays which stage of the process your application is in. It does not show whether or not specific materials have been received. We will notify you via e-mail if additional information or materials are needed to complete our evaluation. Please be sure that you have provided a valid e-mail address and check it regularly.
