MS or Ph.D in Petroleum Engineering

Hi Everyone

I am currently pursuing Integrated Dual Chemical Engineering with
specialisation in Hydrocarbon Engineering from IIT Roorkee. It is a 5 year program offering dual degree (B.Tech + M.Tech) .

I am confused whether to apply for MS or Ph.D in Petroleum Engineering. I want to have funding for my education but the problem is that I dont want to spend 4 years doing Ph.D.
I am more interesting in doing job after my graduation rather than going in reasearch or teaching field.

I am worried that if I apply for MS and not get selected than I will regret that I should have applied for Ph.D (a safer option due to more availabity of funds)

I also wanted to know about the job scenario in US after doing MS and after doing Ph.D. What are the difference in opportunities available? Is it so that there are more job opportunities for MS students than PhD.D

Please help me out...

phd is anytime better than a ms in any field (especially in your case where your undergrad degree is a different one)and more preferred by companies.
