Hi everyone. I started my Sophomore year the beginning of this month as an MSE major, and I'm taking my typical intro course and Crystal chem and blah blah blah. A lot of the time, both of my professors expand on the different "routes" you can take with an MSE degree, talking about using 3D printing to make bones, the process of making artificial organs, etc, and the topic really interests me. My school has a specialization in biomaterials for the MSE degree where, after taking a couple of extra courses, it's noted on your degree or something of the likes. When I was looking up a lot of the courses that can/must be taken for the specialization, I noticed that a majority--probably 60%-- of the courses were offered through the BME department and not the MSE one, courses such as Intro to Biomaterials, Applications of Nanotechnology in Biomedical Engineering, etc. My question is, what am I better off doing, majoring in BME straight out or continuing on with my MSE degree and get my specialization in biomaterials? I am genuinely enjoying my MSE classes so far, I'm really into Chemistry, so when it comes to interest, I definitely have it for the major, but I'm just confused as to what appropriate measures I should take to go about what I'm aspiring of doing. Thanks in advanced, I really appreciate it!
