**********msu Acceptances Here ************

Alright, so MSU is starting to make decisions. Now lets see who got in or didnt.

28 ACT
4.0 gpa

He will be attending too.

When did you apply?

My son had all his paperwork in by August 28. It took exactly one month for the decision.

thanks..What area is he interested in?

Lyman Briggs School.

He is interested in math and teaching. What is funny is when a kid puts down math as his interest then all the engineering colleges send you stuff.

I applied exactly the same time shyanne did. I got my decision in the mail Friday.

I applied as Electrical engineering but now I want to be a pharmacist so Im going to switch my major to chemistry or bio.

Accepted Oct. 2nd

GPA: 3.4

-Decent extracurriculars
-Sent in a letter of rec
-Applied as Advertising major in Communication Arts and Sciences.

Most probably not attending...but too early to say...

BTW just curious...if you all are in state with the higher stats than me, why are you drawn to MSU? What are your thoughts on UMich?

I went with my son to a college fair last year where the rep from U of M seemed to have a attitude. After telling her of my son's accomplishments she finally said "Well, I guess he could come to U of M". Big turn-off. I also read comments on campusdirt.com. Anyway, she didn't do much except hand us papers. The MSU booth had people from Lyman Briggs who were very eager to talk to us. They kept telling my son "We want you".
We live within 10 miles of MSU. Took our son there a couple of times and he saw how people from all over the U.S. are trying to get in. They have a great Education Department and my son knows most of his teachers came from MSU. (I think MSU has the greatest website. It's so easy to understand.) My son didn't even want to check out U of M.
Anyway, it's close, his friends will probably go there too, it has very friendly people and it's a great school. My son only applied to MSU, was accepted and will attend.

Shyanne...we had the same experience between MSU and UM. We visited UM and upon the end of the tour, my son said "yick." When questioned, he said they just didn't seem to "want him." It was more of a "you want us, but we really don't need you" attitude. Next day visited MSU. Everyone SO nice...they really do an excellent job of making you feel wanted. Son's decision is in the mail...he probably won't be attending..but given the choice, he would choose MSU (didn't even apply to UM).

Thanks for telling me that. I wondered if it was just me that felt that vibe.

Well, guess who is contacting us now saying "they want him".
Too late.

I got in yesterday.:)

When did you apply? I applied a week ago, but my transcripts are still not listed as being there, and my counselor said she sent them 14 days ago. Man.

GPA: 3.8

GPA 4.0
ACT 35
SAT 2300 National Merit Semi-Finalist

It's our alma matter, but we have been very disappointed in how the admissions process has gone. It really seems as though State is not interested in high achieving kids - almost like they have thrown in the towel on courting them. Michigan has been much more proactive about it, which as a State alum pains me to say. Maybe the $ will change our minds.

daughter applied Sept 25, got acceptance 3rd week of October.
