I am a new transfer student to MSU this fall. However, I now want to change my major to accounting. I am going to be a junior this year and my current major is biology so I have only one of the prerequisite courses needed to apply to the business college. All Acc201 classes are full for this semester, so I would need to take it next semester but by then I would have about 75 credits. Would it be to late to change my major to accounting? It says that admission to the accounting major is competitive and limited. Would I have a good chance of getting in if I get good grades in the prereq courses? How are the case studies for admission conducted? Do most students who do well on the prereq courses and the case study get accepted?

those pre reqs are no joke, ACC 201 with dr. B is not easy, you’ll have to study around 20 hours a week if you want an above average grade in that class. If you believe you can get a 3.5 in acc 201 and 202 then i would still try for it. If you don’t think you could get those kind of grades then i would choose a different major in the business college, or stay with biology. The case study and non academic factors are 30 of the 150 point scale used to get into broad. the other 120 are you cumulative GPA and Core classes GPA… 60 points each.
