MSU Honors, Stanford, Berkeley, OSU, UMich, GaTech Chances??

I'm about to be a senior this year, and I really like Michigan State..I want to get accepted to the Honors Program though..problem is I don't have a 30 on my ACT and I'm not in the 5% of my class

ACT: 29
SAT Chem: 700
SAT Bio-M: 730
AP Bio: 5
AP Chem: 3
Class Rank W: 34/319
Class Rank UW: 43/319
Weighted GPA (out of 5.33): 4.579
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.33): 3.970

So..if they use my UW, I'm kinda screwed, because I won't be in the top 10%...I'm going to take the ACT again, and I can probably pull off a 30..maybe 31-32 if I try really hard..My course load as a junior

AP Bio (A, A, A+, A+)
AP Bio
AP Chem (B+, B+, B+, A)
AP Chem
Orchestra (A+, A+, A, A)
H. Precalc (A+, A+, A+, A-)
H. Span 4 (B+, B+, B+, A-)
H. English (A+, A+, A+, A+)

Spanish seriously messed me up....I got a D on the final so my 2nd sem avg was a B. My teacher was retarded...AP Bio and AP Chem took up 2 class periods, so I didn't have enough room for other AP classes..not that I could personally handle more anyways as a senior, here's my schedule

AP Physics B
AP Physics B
AP Calc AB
Orchestra
Gov/Study Hall (I'm taking Econ online currently, so it'll be replaced w/ a study hall)
Study Hall
AP Spanish 5
AP Lang

I am also taking AP European History as a credit flex, I won't be in the class but I still have to do all the work, it conflicted w/ orchestra so that's why I have that study hall there.

Chemistry isn't my best subject...I had a hard time w/ it..in the fall I plan on retaking my ACT (rasie to hopefully 31-32), SAT Chem (want a 730-740), and SAT Bio (probably Eco--> 780-800)...I am also planning on taking the SAT Math 2..What are my chances at:

Stanford
Berkeley
Michigan State
Georgia Tech
Ohio State (instate)
University of Michigan
Oberlin
Miami University-Oxford

I really like the Honors programs at MSU, and OSU...and I am intersted in applying early at Stanford..should I apply early at stanford..or go regular? I am working on the arts supplement currently as well...

bumppp??? anyone ??

Stanford (denied)

bumpityyy bump bump

…anybody else?..I can try chancing back if you’d like

Stanford and Berkeley are big reaches and Oberlin is a little bit of a reach, but the rest seem pretty likely. I think it’s a matter of UW GPA and test scores. Retake ACT if you can and if your score is around a 33-34, your chances for Berkeley will look a lot better. Stanford… is Stanford.

Chance me back?
(‘Chance me for ivies?’)

If you could raise your ACT by a couple of points, you would be in good shape for most of the schools on the list (except Stanford which is a crapshoot). If they used your weighted ranking, wouldn’t you still not be in the top 10%?

Try to raise the ACT at least to a 32 and you can try Stanford and Berkeley though they’re kind of a crapshoot, especially Stanford, but who knows. I see all the others as affordable
I’m perplexed about rank, you seem prepared … are you in a class of genius or something? :)

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1370677-please-chance-me-ivies-i-promise-ill-chance-anyone-back.html</a></p>

ok thanks I’ll rate now!..

what if I also added Harvey Mudd College to that list??

…bump again…??

I promise I’ll chance back!! PLEASE?!?!

no one else? :frowning: I

If you’re in-state for UMich, then you have a great chance of being accepted. If you are out of state, try to raise that ACT b/c it’s in the bottom quartile of accepted students.

The avg. ACT this year was 29-33 with an acceptance rate of ~35%.
