Should I go to MSU with almost a full ride or to Georgia Tech with around $60,000 in debt after graduating, because of out of state. I really want to go into either mechanical or aerospace engineering.

There are a number of colleges with the initials MSU. Which one are you talking about?

Mississippi state

This is a very tough call. Assuming that the $60,000 is your total debt for four years, then Georgia Tech could be a bargain. GT is an elite engineering school, one of the best on the planet. Mississippi State is merely okay. If you get a bachelor’s degree in engineering from GT, then the increase in salary between it and a degree from MSU is rather large. Especially if you are ambitious. Still, $60,000 is a lot of money.

If you are totally certain that you want to be an engineer, and you have an ACT above 32 or SAT above 2000, then I think GT might be the better choice.

Have you already gotten into these colleges or are you thinking through what you would do if accepted to both? GA Tech has never been an easy college to get into and its gotten even harder in the past few years…
