MSU or UofM...

Ok, I'm trying to choose between these two options...

Michigan State University
Physics Program
I've been accepted into the honors program, and been offered a professorial assistantship...which is only offered to the top 1% of students (requires 33 ACT or 1500 critical reading and math SAT score).
Being offered the PA, I'd have a annual stipend of around $2,300 for 8-10 hours per week of work, and an additional $2,000/year scholarship for accepting membership in the honors program...
That knocks my costs down to about $14,000/year assuming I earn no additional scholarships.

My other option is the University of Michigan-Flint for two years, then transferring to UM-Ann Arbor. This would be for physics or engineering physics. I'll have a full ride to UM-Flint, so I'd only be paying for two years at Ann Arbor.

My parents are giving me $10,000 total for college, so money is a pretty big limitation..but I feel like by going to UM-Flint I'm missing out on a great opportunity at MSU. What should I do?...

MSU. UM Flint will not give you the same opportunities you will have at MSU. My daughter has a friend who is in the honors college with a professorial assistanceship this year. She did not want to go --- went because she had such great scholarships --- and she actually is enjoying it. She is finding her classes challenging (honors gets first choice). Being in honors housing, she is around other serious students. Her work with her prof allows her to get to know a prof really well, which is always a good idea.

Unless you hate MSU, of course. But if you like it ... the physics dept. is considered very good.

Any idea on what her stats were or what kind of scholarships she earned? I'd prefer MSU but $4,300/year isn't enough to make it affordable for me.
